6/7 month update

My future lifeguards.

Ok....I know that I am late with this! I will seriously try and be better about it!

So, in the past 2 months the boys have grown so much. They both have 2 teeth. Jack is getting at least one of his top ones and Ryne is getting some - we think the top but we haven't seen any poking through yet. The boys are doing really well with their baby food. Peas are not a favorite! But just like any boys I know (well, almost any boys) they will eat it! Jack's tummy has seemed to settle down a bit - we are still giving him his baby zantac but now it is mostly at bed time.

Ryne and Jack are sleeping through the night (yeah!). Chris and I put them down around 8:30 and they wake up anywhere between 6 and 7:30 in the morning. I prefer them to wake up around 7 - but they usually wake up earlier. I guess I have to be happy that they sleep through the night - and I am!
Both babies are pretty mobile. Ryne is crawling - and army crawling all over the place. He has followed me into the kitchen and half way down the hallway. So he is doing really well. He also pulled himself up to a standing position on the ottoman today. Which is great - but at the same time it is a bit scary. Jack is still rolling for the most part. He has made a few scoots crawling - he is still working on it. He does love to lay on his tummy and hit the floor with the rings, cup, or just his hands to make noise. It is pretty funny.
I feel like I am forgetting so much - but I will try to remember some more things and post them later.

5 months!

Wow - I am so late in getting this 5 month blog done!

The boys are doing so well - they are growing so much! Ryne is the king of smiles! He cracks Chris and I up. He is the roller of the two. Today, I put him on the floor on a blanket and I went in the kitchen to make his bottle. When I got back he had rolled almost to the opposite side of the blanket and was completely off of it and on the wood floor trying to get Chris's shoes - and he looks at me all proud of himself and smiles! He is going to be a handful! Ryne's new thing to do now is squealing in a high pitched voice. He thinks that it is so funny. He is also batting at objects - like toys, his bottle, and Daddy's face.
Jack is doing much better in the tummy department. We had him on soy formula and baby Zantac. He was still having tummy troubles - so we are weening him off of the soy and keeping him on the Zantac - and so far so good. He is a much happier baby now. He smiles and laughs. He has the cutest little laugh and a huge smile to go with it. Jack is babbling so much now - and he "sings" too. Well, to me, it sounds like he is singing. He makes Chris and I laugh too.

They are interacting a little more - usually rolling over each other or chewing on each other's arm or leg. They smile at each other - it is really cute. They also know their names when you say them - usually they will respond - but I think that they are already working on ignoring Chris and I sometimes.

We are really looking forward to summer. I signed them up for swimming lessons at the pool. I can't wait. I ordered their swimming trunks - they have (of course) baseballs on them. And speaking of baseballs, Chris already has them watching the Cubs on tv.

What a Weekend

Well, we are going to hold off in celebrating the "solid" food milestone. Ryne did not take to the rice cereal - which was fine. He didn't like it and I think that more ended up on his bib than in his mouth. Jack liked it, I think - but his tummy was another story. He got really really gassy and fussy. We called the doctor on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday - and then we took him to the ER. And of course, when we get there he is all smiles. Ryne and Jack were having a great time laying next to each other on the bed and laughing. We wanted to make sure that there was nothing funky going on with his tummy. And there wasn't. Which we are happy about! We went to see the doctor on Monday - and we have him on baby Zantac and a soy formula. So far, so good. So we are much happier now. On a better note, yes the boys are laughing. I have a video of Ryne laughing - I still need to get one of Jack.

We have had beautiful this week - well so far. Chris and I took the boys for a walk both Saturday and Sunday. We missed Monday (because of the doctor). We walked for 3 and a half miles today (Tuesday). I love being out of the house and the boys like being outside (I think) - and it puts them to sleep for a while so I just turn on my iPod and keep walking. Let's hope that Spring comes soon and I am able to be outside to enjoy the sun - oh...and exercise.

4 Months Old!

We went to the doctor today for the four month check up. Ryne was 25 inches and weighed in at 14 lbs. 3 oz. Jack was 26 inches and weighed in at 15 lbs. The check up went great. Dr. J was very impressed with their head and neck control. She said that their growth and development was great.

Today was a big day for Jack. He finally rolled over from his back to his tummy. He has been trying to do this since the middle of last week. We were so happy when he finally rolled - then he scared himself by rolling again from his tummy to his back. He was pretty excited about the whole thing though. He also started his "solid food" today. Jack had a yummy lunch and dinner of rice cereal. MMMM.....just kidding - it looks nasty! He did a great job of eating it in his big boy high chair at the kitchen table! Jack is also sleeping much better at night. He only wakes up once some nights. Which is great for Chris and I. Let's hope that this continues.

The big news for Ryne is that he slept through the night for two (non-consecutive) nights. I couldn't believe it! I have to admit that it was wonderful not getting up but it freaked me out at the same time. And I admit - yes, I did go and check on him a few times. He also likes sleeping on his tummy (yes, he rolls!). And yes, that also freaked me out. Chris and I still do check on him at night but it is only if we go back by the nursery, before we go to bed at night, and when we feed Jack at night. Since today I got the okay for Jack to try "solids", I tried to get Ryne to eat the rice cereal. He was not having it! He would force it all back out. So, we will try again next week!

We did manage to get out for a walk when it was nice outside last week. It was GREAT being outside and out of the house. I am so looking forward to SPRING! We take out the "caddy" and we just walk and walk. This time we walked 3 miles. It was a lot of fun. Here is a picture of the "caddy". Yes, it is huge but it is such a great stroller!

Again, we are still trying to get an "official" four month picture. But here are a few from the past couple of days!

Almost 4 months

tummy time with Ryne and Jack

The boys are almost 4 months old. We had our baby shower this past weekend. It was a great time. Chris and I are so thankful for our friends and family. The boys did join us for the party - well, they kinda slept through the party but that was fine.

College Roommates - Me, Teri, and Beth
The Party Animals!

They are both rolling now. Ryne can go from back to tummy and tummy to back. Jack just figured out how to roll from his tummy to his back. He is working on rolling the other way though. I can't believe how much they have learned in the past few months. As I am typing this, I am watching Jack learn how to kick the arms of the activity gym to make the star light up and make music. It is amazing watching them learn something new.

Anyway, here are a few pictures....and we will have a 4 month update soon.
